Information:
Project Harmony, an American not-for-profit organization, has been working for the past 16 years in the NIS. During this time, it has successfully inducted more than 400 programs, including over 200 school exchanges between the US and NIS and more than 100 professional exchanges. Over 6000 people have participated in these direct exchanges.
Five years ago, Project Harmony expanded beyond its initial focus on educational and professional exchanges and began managing technical assistance programs. In Russia, Project Harmony has conducted or is conducting three Internet-based training programs -- the Internet School Linkage Program, Development of the Internet in Samara region and the Internet Access and Training Program. In the Caucuses, it is conducting the Armenia Connectivity Program and On-line Communities in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. All these activities are programs of the US State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
In addition to Internet-based programs, Project Harmony's professional training programs include recruitment or hosting for Community Connections programs in Ukraine, Russia and Georgia; and anti-domestic violence programs and police retraining initiatives in Ukraine, Russia and Georgia.
Also during the past year, Project Harmony has been conducting youth leadership programs in Bosnia-Herzogovina, its first programs for the citizen of Balkan countries.
