Frame and first totals of activity of the server "The Museums of Omsk Irtysh region" were discussed at the All-Russia seminar "Implantation of modern information technologies in museum practice" (Omsk State Museum of History and Regional studies, December 1999). Taking into account the accumulated experience of Omsk State Museum of History and Regional studies in development of a corporate museum resource, at a seminar the solution about necessity of creation of the new server - "Museums of Siberia" was accepted. The purpose of the project - to unite gains of the Siberian museums for realisation of the collateral scientific projects, information interchange, printed production, exhibitions. The pilot project of the server "Museums of Siberia" represented to a wide circle of the visitors of April 4, 2000.

Site www.sibmuseum.com. The information about 5 museums of the Siberian locale is already given: Tyumen State museum of regional studies, Tobolsk history-architectural museum - reserve, museum - reserve "Tomskaya pisanitsa" (“Tomsk writings”) from Kemerovo, Children's museum of Noyabrsk and Omsk State Museum of History and Regional studies. Working on the new museum pages now is carried on. In the long term the circle of museums will extend.

Except the information on the Siberian museums, the frame of the server has the following sections. In the news block it is supposed to dispose the information on past or forthcoming measures: scientific conferences, seminars, museum workshops, large exhibition and publishing projects etc. In section "The Museum shop" it is supposed to dispose the information with sentences about any museum production: specialities, issuings etc. There is a very important section "Exchange of exhibitions", because it is supposed to adjust operation of exchange of exhibitions between the Siberian museums from here. In "Contacts" the museum workers, scientists, contributors can dispose the information on themselves, scientific interests with the purpose of installation of more tight scientific links for implementation of the collateral projects and mutual aid. The section "The Scientific projects" enables allocations of the separate Internet - projects on any museum collections, the collateral projects are also admitted here. In section of "Reference" it will be possible to find the information about museum and historical Internet - resources, and in "Forum" to interchange by judgements to state wishes and remarks on any problem of museum life. The server is permanently enlarged by new materials.

Now Omsk State Museum of History and Regional studies also carries on targeted operation on cataloguing funds. With support of The Soros fund in 1999 on the server "The Museums of Omsk Irtysh region" were prepared and disposed the Internet – catalogues “History and culture of Germans of Siberia: on materials of archives and museum collections" and "Coins and bonds of the Russian empire XVIII-XX centuries in the collection of Omsk State Museum of History and Regional studies", last of which covers the descriptions of 9000 museum subjects. Already in the proximate year Omsk State Museum of History and Regional studies can dispose in the Internet following directories: "The Rare book in the collection of Omsk State Museum of History and Regional studies", "Siberian Cossack's army in photos", “Archives of a personal parentage in funds of Omsk State Museum of History and Regional studies”, “The figures of a science, culture, enlightenment", "Ethnography of the peoples of Siberia in the collection of Omsk State Museum of History and Regional studies". In total, scientific description would cover not less than 45 thousand museum subjects. 1 - 2 thousand items Omsk State Museum of History and Regional studies would be able to present in the Internet visually.
