Nowadays the process of the automated archival technologies (AAT) implementation in the archives develops on two directions:
1. The centralised development and standard data bases implementation on the main directions of the state archives work (from acquisitions till use).
2. The “spontaneous” computerising realised by the archives themselves.
There are several program (software) products for each direction executed by different developers on different programs. Today the computerising deals mainly with the creation of information and reference manuals particularly on the documented information level. The Rosarchiv and VNIIDAD are working out a problem of the data bases integration in the archival sphere. After the standard data bases implementation it is planned to combine them as a part of the following step of archival automation into the local networks on the regional archival administration level and then integrate in the network with the broad use on the standards base.
Lately the actual problem is the CD-ROM and multimedia usage in the archival sphere. As an example of the CD-ROM usage in the archival science we must mention “Videoarchives of the Russian history”, produced by the “Cyrill and Mephody” firm in the CD-ROM complete set “Cyrill and Mephody” General Encyclopedia”, prepared by one of the authors of the present report as well as a project of training system “Archivistika”, based on the modern information technologies.
Khodakovsky N.I., doc. of science, researches the problems of the computers using in the history science and archival matter since 1990s.
Tkachenko N.A. has been concerning with the questions of the information processes development in the archives since 1975. She took part in the creation and installation of the automated archival technologies into the state archives, in the development of the standard technologies for the main archival activities computerisation, thematic databases and interarchival automatic data bases.
Levchuk L.I., programmer, she is dealing with the program products creation on the main activities of the state archives.
