This publication will open a whole new entertaining world of the Bible stories via masterpieces of the Hermitage collection. More then 100 of the well-known works illustrating Bible and Apokrifs topics, from the world creation to Apocalypses. It will introduce you to Christian art and iconography. The “Bible via art” section will tell you about the most famous book in the world, about it’s meaning in art for the last 2000 years. There is a full analysis of 25 works, among which there are such works as Leonardo de Vinchi, Al Greko, Rembrant, Rubens and Kandinsky; it will allow you to appreciate all the variety of expressive and creative works and have a deeper understanding of art.
The chronological section will help you perceive the Bible events through the world history contest. The “Characters and symbols” section however, is the key to understanding an allegoric language of the Christian art. The “Atlas” would give you a visual idea of geography of the holy history main events.
