Description:
The education program Gospel Subjects in Western European Art from the Collection of the State Hermitage consists of five sections:
Main Characters of the New Testament, Story of Mary, Childhood of Christ, Services of Christ and Passions of Christ .
The program presents the main events from the Biblical history that has been a source of themes for Western European artists for many centuries. It also introduces the user to the Biblical iconography and symbols, and illustrates their development in various European artistic schools from the 15th to 18th century.
Modern computer technologies allow the user to examine details of paintings, which sometimes is impossible in the exhibition.
The program is intended both for children and art lovers of different age. It is also of interest for specialists of schools and universities.
The program is set up in the Hermitage Education Centre.
